100% proceeds from the event support the good work of Susitna River Coalition

This community event celebrates the local and wild foods of the Susitna Watershed and the communities that rely on and enjoy them. After the hard work of growing, harvesting, and gathering food, nothing is more rewarding than sharing the bounty with our neighbors.

For this 8th annual event, the Susitna River Coalition is holding a community potluck and cooking competition with foods that grew, flew, walked, or swam in the Susitna Watershed. Some past delicious entries have included caribou frankfurters, blueberry bear, and Kahiltna birch syrup ice cream.

How it Works:

Option One, Chef Entries: Contestants bringing their dish!

Adult Chef Entry Fee: $15

Youth Chef Entry Fee: $5 (12 and younger.) An adult can help but this dish should largely prepared by the entrant.

One adult and one youth chef entry allowed per online checkout.

Rules for Dish Entries

  • Ingredients must include something that Walked, Swam, Flew or Grew in the Susitna Watershed that you harvested, gathered or prepared.

  • Email your recipe to info@susitnarivercoalition.org for inclusion in our competition and semi-annual cookbook.

  • Bring a dish that will serve at least six (6) people.

  • Entrees preferred- sauces must supplement a main.

 

Here are some examples:

Walked: Fiddlehead/Morel/Moose pizza and Porcupine Sausage Gumbo

Swam: Grilled Salmon with a Lingonberry sauce and Salmon Quiche

Flew: Ptarmigan appetizers and Turkey Pot Pie

Grew: Blueberry Birch Ice Cream and Black Currant Muffins

We will be creating a 2024 Wild Su Feast cookbook out of the dishes! Please bring the recipe or the ingredients list for your entry.

*We can not accept any home-made alcoholic drinks this year*

 

Option Two, Event Attendees: Pay admission in advance and vote on locally prepared foods! Online ticket sales will end at 5pm on October 12th. Pre-sales help us with planning.

Adult: $30

Youth (12 and under): $10

 

Option Three, Day of Pricing at the Door: Pay admission at the door and enjoy the event!

Day of Chef Entrants: $20/Adult; $5/Youth (Brings their own dish with a recipe card for contest entry)

Day of Adult Attendee (no dish): $40

Day of Youth Attendee (no dish)(12 and under): $10.00

*Please note: All tickets are non-refundable within 7-days of the event*

 

People's Choice Awards: Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dish. There will be an award given for top choices in each of the 4 categories: Walked, Swam, Flew, and Grew.
