Plants for Salmon is back for its fourth—and biggest—year!

We’d love to see you at Montana Creek on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We’ll spend the day planting native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers along the banks to cool the water, stabilize the soil, and give young salmon the shady, oxygen-rich habitat they need to thrive. It’s hands-on, family-friendly work, so pull on some sturdy shoes and bring gloves.

There will be live-fish tanks, interactive crafts, temporary tattoos, free native seeds, and a fly-casting demo. The day will open with a land acknowledgment from the Knik Tribe, and volunteers eat free.

This annual restoration event is powered by an incredible lineup of partners: the Susitna River Coalition, Knik Tribe, Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership, Trout Unlimited, Mat-Su Borough, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Palmer Soil & Water Conservation District, special thanks to NOAA for additional habitat restoration project funding and extra support from the Southcentral TU Chapter, the Mat-Su Health Foundation, and the Jessica Stevens Foundation Student-led grant.

Come get your hands dirty, learn something new, and help keep a beloved salmon stream healthy for generations to come.
