Riparian Planting Day 2026

Plants for Salmon is back for its fifth year!
We’d love to see you at Caswell Creek on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We’ll spend the day planting native trees and shrubs along the streambanks to cool the water, stabilize the soil, and give young salmon the shady, oxygen-rich habitat they need to thrive. It’s hands-on, family-friendly work, so pull on some sturdy shoes and bring gloves.
Planting will take place along Caswell Creek at the outlet of Middle Caswell Lake, near the fish passage culvert and Middle Caswell Lake Park 3. From the Parks Highway, turn onto Hidden Hills Road just south of Sheep Creek Lodge. Heading east, take a left onto East Caswell Lakes Road and continue for approximately 4 miles. Middle Caswell Lake will be on the north side of the road. Please park along the roadside near the Silver Salmon Drive neighborhood.
This annual restoration event is powered by an incredible lineup of partners: Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership, Mat-Su Borough, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Susitna River Coalition.
Come get your hands dirty, learn something new, and help keep a salmon stream healthy for generations to come.
