About the event

This November, the SRC is highlighting creativity in our free-flowing Susitna River Watershed and asking: How does the Watershed inspire you? Our first event in this series features Talkeetna artist, Katelin Walczyk. Katelin is an artist at Lofted Acre Studios LLC west of the Talkeetna mountains in south-central, Alaska. In addition to producing art, she and her partner, Matt process local timber into lumber and lumber products with a focus on utilizing beetle-kill white spruce. Walczyk earned her Bachelors in Fine Art at the University of Wisconsin Stout, with a concentration in drawing and photography. After studying for three terms in San Bernardino, California, she began to merge both two-dimensional mediums in several applications and continues to see the world around her as if through a lens. Subject matter found in her work includes landscape, natural resources, and the human experience relative to nature and man-made objects and ideas. She is always seeking the connections between science, beauty, and spirituality, resulting in her livelihood and her art. Join us for this virtual art show and discussion with the artist.
